Oi! Wimpy here. Let me show you how to take better care of your woollen garb. I could bleat on forever about this lovely, natural material and all the clever things it can do. Wool keeps me warm in winter and cool in summer, while its breathable fibres absorb moisture and let it escape into the air. It’s also antimicrobial, which, in simple terms, means your woollies don’t get smelly too easily. Hooray! I’ve never met a sheep that didn’t smell fantastic anyway.

But here’s the less fluffy bit: wool production can have quite an impact on our planet. Sheep need lots of land and produce tons of methane. Excuse me. Conditions can also be poor, so if you’re buying new wool, look for organic, mulesing-free options and check where the wool comes from and how it was produced.

Even better? Buy woollen things second-hand! I’ve got a few tricks up my sleeves, and inside this box, to help you give your woollies a much longer life. Grab the needles, wool and my trusty wooden tools, and let’s get fixing.

These little wooden helpers each have a job to do:

Design
Wimpy was designed by Foekje Fleur, with all illustrations by Lauraine Meyer.
Production
The tools are made from beech wood, stainless steel, copper and natural rubber. The yarn, supplied by Schoppel Wolle in Germany, is a blend of mulesing-free wool, hemp and biodegradable polyamide.
All paper and cardboard are made from 100% recycled materials and printed CO2-neutrally. Good for your woollies, with a little more thought given to the planet, too.
